Re-released on CD on October 23, 2001.This was the second and final album on the revitalized Paradise label, independent from Warner Bros. Records. Update: Hank Wilson II was re-released on CD to retail outlets on October 23, 2001. The CD packaging to Hank II does not include the band photo that was on the red cover from 1984. The track list for the CD is the same as the 1984 release.

The Hank Wilson II album has an interesting history. The original version was cut in 1980 and did not include
Wabash Cannonball, a duet with Willie Nelson . Paradise's distribution deal with Warner Brothers had lapsed by the time the record was ready for release. Copies were pressed with the first cover, an opaque projector tracing, to sell at gigs around 1981. In 1984, with Paradise's reactivation, Leon remixed and doctored the tracks with help from members of his 1984 band.Wabash Cannonball was added to the album and issued as a single. My Cricket & Me was deleted from the second edition. The reissue of Hank Wilson II, a "country" album, was concurrent with the release of
Solid State , a "pop" album.Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues was picked as the single for the "pop" album but was shipped to
country radio! It charted up to #49.Wabash Cannonball did not chart at all.Note the Paradise Records logo in the photo of the band, above. If you look closely, you will see that
Jack Wessel & Shamsi Sarumi are holding it up. The supersized logo was reportedly quite heavy and had previously adorned the exterior of Paradise Records' offices in Burbank, California. The photo was taken at Paradise Record's new digs in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
