Cheetahs
The Cheetah--the fastest thing on 4 paws.  These pictures were all taken in Kruger National Park in March 2007 of one cheetah sighting.  We don't normally see cheetah (only the second we've ever seen) so this was quite a bonus for us.

We first saw the cheetah from a distance (if you look at the top of the screen on the right you will see wild dogs (though you won't be able to identify them).  We were on the other side of the dogs when we saw an animal.  When we looked through the binoculars we thought we had a leopard, but when we got closer we discovered the un-mistakable cheetah look.
We are of the opinion that the cheetah made the kill and that the wild dogs stole it from the cheetah--this happens quite often in the wild.  The cheetah isn't strong enough to fight off a pack of dogs and so he simply loses his meal.  The cheetah, in the picture above, is looking at the wild dogs probably trying to decide whether to go back or not.

We were entertained by this cheetah for around 1/2 hour until he finally decided to go off into the bush.  We were quite thrilled by this early morning sighting.
