Leopards |

|
Leopards tend to be shy animals and generally don't get real close to people. They usually hunt at night and their favorite method of hunting is to lie down on a path with their nose upwind. When an unsuspecting animal comes along, he attacks. Leopards are the most proficient hunters and have very powerful jaws. A leopard will often climb a tree with an impala in his teeth. |

This leopard was seen at Kruger National Park in March 2007. We had stopped at a water hole to just look around. The picture above was what we could see with our naked eye. Suddenly Marie said, "There's a leopard on top of that wall." And sure enough there was. We were able to zoom in with our camera to take these pictures. |

Leopards are pretty rare sightings--somewhere between a lion sighting and a cheetah sighting. You don't see them every trip to the park so it's always special to get a good view of one like this. |
