Kruger National Park--July 2006. We saw a couple of parked cars and asked what they were looking for. "We just saw a lion but we can't see it anymore," were the disappointing words of reply. A few moments later, Jessica, our summer IFM intern, said, "It's right behind us." And sure enough, two cars back, she came out into trafic. Then walked up alongside our car, obviously agitated. I told everyone to close their windows and in a few moments we saw why she was so upset--the cubs below had been cut off from her by the trafic. |
