        MOORGREEN COLTS A       4 v 0     VERNON COLTS A

The A-team beat Vernon colts A-team 4-0.The side resorted to a 3-2-1 formation which suited the lads a lot better. The first goal came from a Joshua Hunt low drive from a free kick on the corner of the goal area, which was deflected in at the near post. The second came from a long drive by Joe Coxon which was a long way outside the box.The keeper was unable to hold the ball due to the power behind it.In the second half Vernon came back into the game playing well and working very hard. This was our best display of passing football so far.THe third goal was a solo run from left back Reagan Marriott who ran the entire length of the pitch before putting the ball away. Finally another well worked goal was finished off by Connor Bayldon who is starting to look like a natural forward.

The B-team then played Vernon A-team and performed to a very high standard, although they finally lost the match 6-1.Derry Hickman scored our only goal through sheer determination.A special mention goes to the captain of the day Jack Rosier who played fantastically well playing in his new midfield role.

Our second game was a 3-0 victory for Moorgreen with Connor Bayldon who is really starting to find his feet infront of goal scoring all three.James Cowlishaw had a solid performance in goal managing to keep a clean sheet. The midfield duo of Robbie manners and Joe coxen were fantastic. Both players were in advance of their years showing great awareness of the game around them.As they are underaged  the team will miss them in the league games immensely....

We had two games this week away to Kimberley Colts. We mixed up both sets of teams. The first game was a 2-1 win to moorgreen.Callum Thompson coming out as man of the match .He scored both goals and looked as though he could have scored more.A solid defensive display especially Reagan Marriott and the goalie Joe Flinders.Connor Davis also had a good game upfront playing some nice passes and coming close to scoring.

       MOORGREEN COLTS        2 v 1     CALVERTON MW

 Friendly

As Clifton were unable to make it on Saturday we arranged a game with Calverton .Unfortunately they were only able to play one game of twenty minutes each way.The first half was played by the A-teams.We managed to go in 1-0 up but it was against the run of play.Calverton found a lot of time around the edge of our box and in midfield to play some nice passes. We defended very well with Callum Thompson and Joshua Hunt having strong games. The goal came from a fantastic run down the right hand side from Callum Thompson who shrugged off three very strong challenges before driving the ball home at the near post.
In the second half the B-team played very well with a special mention going to Derry and debutant Oliver George who showed some good skills. The side came close to scoring through Connor Davies who was blocked but we finally came off the pitch losing 2-1.
To give the lads another run out we had a mixed game between players and spectators.A lot of fun was had by all,but man of the match was Peters dad Jeff Mccoll who seemed to have some of the younger lads in his pocket.

       MOORGREEN COLTS A       0 v 2     BINGHAM TOWN A

This was the first time the A -team had failed to score since our opening game twelve matches ago.As a team we defended poorly in the first half allowing the opposition a few good chances to get round the back of the defence. Our passing game was also very limited. At half time we were 2-0 down.We decided to change the back two and bring in Joshua Hunt and Derry Hickman who played extremely well together.Joshua was looking particularly comfortable on the ball showing a lot of composure.Moorgreen managed to turn the pattern of play in their favour with some very strong powerful runs from Callum particularly , who would normally have scored but for the Bingham goalie who was amazing.Reagan Marriott also started to shine showing some marvelous skill on the right wing before putting his crosses in only to be foiled by the keeper.Final score 2-0.Our second half performance would have destroyed many teams but Bingham were an excellent team.We need to start our games the same way we finish them.

The B-team game was a massive plus for the future of the squad.Oliver George,Connor Davies, and Jack Rosier all having their best games to date.We also had a new lad come on for the second half called Toby Keep who has both strength and speed and with more Football under his belt will definately be looking to be playing in the A-team.The two teams were quite evenly matched apart from the finishing from the Bingham team. Our best football in the first half came from Peter McColl down the left who used the space infront of him well and also managed to distribute well to link up with Oliver and Connor Davies.Toby came on at half time with Jack Rosier who both powered throgh the midfield at times. Our goal finally came when Connor Davies and Toby Keep got round the back of the defence and Connor released a shot which the keeper managed to push away and Toby pounced on the rebound. We actually lost the game 6-1 but there were a lot of plusses to come out of it.

A disapointing start to the A-team game which left us 2-0 down after 3 minutes. The whole team showing a lack of concentration. We seem to be making a habit of starting badly. We improved in the run up to half time withsome hard work from the midfield trio of Callum Thompson, Joe Coxon, and Reagan Marriott. The centre forward and central midfielder were outstanding for Netherfield and at times too strong for Moorgreen. In the second half the new defensive partnership of Josh Hunt and Toby Keep started to gel a lot better.Unfortunately the next goal went the way of Netherfield from a penalty.Reagan then started to raise his game scoring a tap in and then a fantastic long range shot to bring us back to 3-2.We were finally starting to play something like when Netherfield killed the game when Luke Humphries scored his fourth goal of the day.4-2

The B-team played very well against a Netherfield team that still had 3 of there best A-teamers playing.Macaulay and Jake did a good job in defence and another new signing Oliver George who was man of the match showed some lovely skill in midfield. The team lost4-0 but it was probably our best game yet.
