Knicks

The New York Knickerbockers, known as the Knicks, are one of only two charter members of the National Basketball Association still in their original cities (the other being the Boston Celtics). The Knicks were among the league's elite in three different eras, each separated by about two decades. In the early 1950s New York played for the NBA title three times. The early 1970s represented the team's golden age, when the Knicks won two NBA championships with a roster studded with such Hall of Fame talent as Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Dave DeBusschere, Earl Monroe, and Bill Bradley. Then, in the 1990s, the Knicks again became dominant behind center Patrick Ewing, advancing to the NBA Finals in 1994 and 1999.

Giants

The city of New York was introduced to professional football on the same day that the city was introduced to the New York Giants. It was a clear, sunny October afternoon in 1925 when the Giants took the field to play against the Frankford Yellow Jackets. The Giants lost their home debut by the score of 14-0, but more importantly, the New York Giants and professional football had arrived. Frank Gifford, Lawrence Taylor, Tom Landry… the Giants have a long and storied list of players, coaches and more that have entered the prestigious group of those in the NFL Hall of Fame.
The Giants struggled financially through the first decade but managed to win their first title in only their third season, going 11-1-1 in 1927.
