Denair, CA 95316 - United States of America
"Where the heck is Denair?"... I've been asked that all of my life. I tell people where I'm from and then I'm asked that question. I never know what to say about the little, rural town in the center of the state of California. My town doesn't have a police force, or a Mayor, for that matter. But we do have a Library and a Theater and a little shopping center among it's few attractions. It's quiet and I like it. There are nearly 4,000 here now. That's huge compared to 15 years ago. My family has been in this area for nearly 100 years. (Are we related? Check out my My Family Tree Project page.) So I guess this is my answer to that question, my own little tribute to Denair page. I hope you enjoy it. - Moon Trent
Did you know Denair wasn't always called "Denair?" This area was first called "Elmdale" in 1898. Some time after December 1903 and before May 1904, the name became "Elms." The name changed to "Elmwood" on 14 July 1904 and finally to "Denair" on 24 April 1907. The town is often called "The Oasis of the San Joaquin Valley", although we are south of San Joaquin County in Stanislaus County. "At Denair nothing ends. It just changes."*
