One of the greatest videos of all time was by the great Jonathon Dayton and Valerie Farris. Tonight, tonight was shot in 1996 and appeared on the album "Melon Collie and the infinate sadness". At the MTV awards in 1996 it won every category it was in except one. Taking home Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Special Effects, Best Art Directing, Break Through Video and Video of the Year. The video we know it as today is the 3rd concept that was written for the song. It took 3 days of shooting and a month to set up the pre production set which is entirely 2 dimensional images painted on flat pieces of wood. The video is also a tribute to a French silent movie director. Billy and Jimmy from the band both agreed its the best reaction they have ever recieved from a video. |
