( F )    JDS  -  DENIES WHAT OCCURRED WHEN CHRIST WENT TO HELL

JDS teaches that Christs Spirit suffered and was tormented by demons and Satan in hell for mankinds sins.  None of the following scriptures give any hint or indication to state that Christ died spiritually in hell though in truth, He went to hell.  It is true and scriptural that Jesus went to hell.   But not for the purpose to suffer and die for mankinds sins.  The soul, not the Spirit, of Jesus went to hell and preached to the spiritual prisoners there;

[27] Because
thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  -  Acts 2:27

[31] He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that
his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
[32] This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.  -  Acts 2:31-32

[8] Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
[9] (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also
descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
[10]
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)  -  Eph. 4:8-10

[18] For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
[19]
By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
[20] Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.  -  I Peter 3:18-20

The scriptures write that Christ went to hell.   But it was His soul and not His Spirit which went there.   Therefore, Christ physically suffered for our sins on the cross.  Christ purchased our redemption on the cross.  Christ said it is finished, the work of redemption on the cross.  He did not die spiritually and suffer in hell for three days and nights by Satan or demons in order to save mankind and reconcile us to God.   All of redemption occurred on the cross where sin was condemned in the flesh of Jesus and where He shed His sinless blood for the remission of sins.   Since Christ was preaching in hell, according to 1 Peter 3:19. Jesus could not then be preaching in hell and at the same time be spiritually suffering torment and dying for our sins there.   Scripture writes;

[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross;
[15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly,
triumphing over them in it. -  Col. 2:14-15

14.  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; -  Heb. 2:14

4.  For if God spared not the angels that sinned,
but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5.  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;  -  2 Peter 2:4-5

In Pauls writing to the Colossians the scriptures state that Christ spoils principalities and powers via the cross.  Christ triumphs over them because of His work of redemption on the cross.  Moreover,  the writer of Hebrews specifically states that the flesh and blood death of Christ is what destroyed the devil, the one who had the power of death.   That physical, flesh and blood death of Christ for sins occurred on the cross and not in hell.  Finally, Peter teaches that the angels who sinned are chained in the darkness of hell by God specifically to be reserved for judgement.   No where in these verses of scripture is it written of Christ suffering torment and dying in the depths of hell for sins.   Jesus was never at any time at the mercy of  Satan or demonic forces while He was in hell.

Jesus could not preach to spiritual prisoners in hell if He was being tormented by demons and Satan.  Jesus could not suffer torment and spiritual death in hell by demons and Satan when Hebrews tells us that the physical death of Jesus was the thing which destroyed Satan, the one who had the power of death.  Therefore, since the physical death of Jesus on the cross destroyed the devil then the devil could not, after Jesus death on the cross,  be in hell tormenting Jesus.

Jesus could not have suffered torment and spiritual death in hell when the angels who sinned are chained there by God.  Chained beings cant touch another being much less cause torment and harm.   Jesus could not have been tormented and suffered at the wicked hands of Satan and demons when Pauls writings to the Colossian Christians specifically tells us that those principalities and powers were spoiled by Jesus on the cross.  Jesus was either our Conquering and Triumphant Saviour in hell or He was mercilessly tortured and killed by Satan and his demons in hell.   Jesus cannot be and was not both.  Scripture makes very clear what occurred when the soul of Jesus went to hell.  The soul of Jesus Christ went to hell, that spiritual prison, and preached to the spiritual prisoners there.  But the JDS teaching denies those scriptures.
