Japanese Spitz
The Japanese Spitz is assumed
to be a miniaturization of the Samoyed, the breed that traveled
with nomadic tribes from Mongolia, and so is thought by some
to not be related to the American Eskimo Dog; however, there
is some disagreement on that point. It is conjectured that
it dates to the early 1900's and was developed as a companion
first, and a watchdog later. It has become popular in Europe,
especially in Britain where it was recognized in 1977.
Coat Type: The double
coat is very long, thick, and profuse, and always white. The
coat requires a good deal of grooming.
Temperament: The Japanese
Spitz is a bold and intelligent little dog that has courage
beyond its size, and makes a wonderful companion. A lively
dog, it may have a tendency to bark a lot, especially to warn
you when strangers approach.

A
DOG OWNER'S PRAYER
O Lord don't let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet---
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard,
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy,
Don't allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch,
Shield my neighbor's cat from view
guide my steps around the dew,
Train me not to curse and scowl
when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear
Give me patience without end---
Help me be "A DOG'S BEST FRIEND!!!"
