His Peace and Our Quality Time - at Katikati

- John & Jan McGoram

Won't it be great! A Christian camp without a camp speaker, a song leader or hype.

No pressures, no usual camp meetings arranged, and no efficient organisation. At camp we promise no cloning. What you are, we will allow you to be. And what the Lord is, we pray we may learn to 'naturally' enjoy amongst us at Katikati.

"Come ye apart and rest awhile", comes readily to mind. I am sharing this article about Camp because if you are coming it is about you. Camp will not be about a happening. It will be about the Lord and about some of His people. And about relationship. That is what it will depend upon. Not leaderships, or speakers, or those who minister. It will be up to the Lord and up to our responses.

Recently, a much-loved husband and Dad of a young family, discovered he had only a few weeks to live. He immediately focused on two things. "Let us as a family (and as a church) experience the real peace of God. And let's just have quality time together."

His going left an indelible mark on possibly hundreds around Napier, both Christians and non-Christians alike.

To Johnathon's dear wife Carole, and to the family - Brendon, Justine and Martyn, we extend our love and prayers at this time. May Jesus continue to give each of you His peace.

Hadyn writes in our Camp brochure under 'Focus of the Camp'; "This seems like a good focus to us. Relationship with God and relationship with each other. What more is there?"

In giving the call for people to come together at Labour Weekend, these same two elements on our brother's heart at Napier were on my heart too. That we come together to enjoy the peace of God in our midst and that we enjoy quality time with each other. There are two events that cause the human heart to get real. One is when faced with death. The other when one experiences the known Presence of God. In both cases the real priorities of life become all that matters. In Johnathon's case it was, to enjoy that peace of God and to have quality time together. In all the rest and relaxation at Camp may this be our experience too. To know Him and to know each other. Come to minister. Come to receive. For there is much in these days we need to learn from the lips of the Spirit of God Himself.
