Other scientists that worked on the atom before Rutherford include: Isaac Newton, he proposed a mechanical universe with small solid masses in motion (1803,) John Dalton, who proposed an "atomic theory" with spherical solid atoms based upson measurable properties of mass (1874,) and GJ Stoney, he proposed that electricity was made of discrete negative particles he called "electrons" (1903,) and introduced the "saturnian" model of the atom with flat rings of electrons revolving around a positive particle (1911.)
