Draconian laws have been used at different times
and at different places by the Indian Government. The Prevention
of Terrorist Activities (POTA), and earlier acts like TADA, NSA
and Armed Forces Special Powers Act are used in suppressing democratic
dissent. It makes confessions in police stations, taped and wiretapped
conversations as admissible evidence; and stipulates months and
years of imprisonment without trial or bail on mere suspicion. This
site is dedicated to all those who uphold democratic rights and
are against the criminalisation of dissent through state terrorism.
The Lok Raj Sangathan
(LRS) calls on everybody, who has access to any information,
reports and views that will assist in this quest, to write to us.
