Capt. Morris A. Peelle

Capt. Morris A. Peelle is from Whittier, Calif. He graduated from UCLA and was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy in August, 1952. He was designated a Naval aviator in November, 1953. He reported to Attack Squadron 196 based at the Naval Air Station, Alameda, Calif., and completed two Western Pacific cruises on the aircraft carriers USS Wasp and USS Lexington.

He returned to Pensacola, Fla., as a flight instructor, and then went to USS Ticonderoga and completed two Western pacific cruises. His next assignment was with Attack Squadron 94, with which he made two cruises aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, flying the A-4 Skyhawk aircraft.

From there he attended the Armed forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., and upon graduation, was assigned to duty at the National Military Command System Support Center in the Pentagon. Following his Washington tour, he made two combat cruises, one each aboard the aircraft carriers USS Ticonderoga and USS Oriskany.

He subsequently attended the Naval war College, earning a master of science degree in International Affairs, He was the executive officer on USS Kitty Hawk and commanding officer of USS Constellation (CV-64).

Following a tour of duty as assistant deputy for aviation readiness and support at headquarters, Chief of Naval Material, he became commanding officer of RTC, San Diego. In December 1979, he became commander, NTC. He retired in 1981.

He retired in 1994 from property management and currently resides in Coronado, Calif.
