I walked through the un-harvested grains and thorny brush covering the ground between the path and the rock wall with the clearly marked spot.
Climbing the wall, it was easy to distinguish the regularity of the design. But to what purpose, I again asked myself. Maybe I've read too many Lovecraft tales. I could easily envision strange rites of yore performed in this misshappen landscape.
From the wall I spied another large rock outcropping to the North West. I climbed off the wall and headed towards the pile.
Arriving beside this marker, as I looked around I realized that there were two more of these cairn marching off towards the west. The least I could do was record the site for future investigation.
I got myself back on the original trail and marhed on to find the quagmire. I soon arrived at a fork in the road. One branch lead North West and the second headed almost due south; neither seemed to lead in the true direction, so I headed south.
I soon came across an individual headed in my direction. The people I have encountered on these paths have been extremely helpful. This one explained that I'd taken the wrong path and should take the northern route. |
