This applet came about as a project for a class on ODE's I took one semester. It demonstrates a couple of approximations to the solutions of three different differential equations. If you want a copy of the java class file or the source code just ask. I don't know why you would, but you never know! If you encounter a bug in the program, please fill out a problem report. The applet evaluates the solution to the differential equation (if it is known) at the same point that the approximations are evaluated. The aforementioned approximations are represented graphically as follows:

• The original function: GREEN
• Euler's Method: RED
• Improved Euler's Method: BLUE
• Runge-Kutta Method: YELLOW

• dy/dx = y
• dy/dx = y + x^2
• dy/dx = y^2*cos(y) + x*sin(x) A truly nasty ODE!

Instructions: (you may have to click the mouse in the applet window before you can do anything)

• Left Arrow: change selection
• Right Arrow: change selection
• Down Arrow: decrease iterations
• Up Arrow: increase iterations
• t: decrease y scale
• x: increase x scale
• y: increase y scale
• z: decrease x scale
