We took inspiration for our name from the 'main man' of the Roman pagan gods - Jupiter Optimus Maximus (in Latin 'the best and greatest'). We don't aim to be the largest tour guiding company in Rome, but we definitely try to be the best!
We are all articulate native English speakers, settled in Rome because we love the city and are fascinated with its history. Each member of the optimus team has a different background, and we all bring our individual interests and specialities to the mix - including Classical Studies, History of Art, Renaissance History, Italian and Philosophy.
We are also all well informed about the specific history of Rome, it's intriguing and entertaining stories, and how this history shows flashes of itself in the fabric of the modern day city.
We believe in small groups (no more than 20) with well informed, entertaining and inspiring guides who will bring the city to life for you, and send you home with a passion to learn more!
