Sprawling on the Esquiline Hill in an area which was towards the boundaries of the ancient city, Termini (pronounced Term-i-nee) is Rome's largest train station. It  links with the whole of Rome and to both Fiumincino and Ciampino airports. It's the centre of the city's bus and metro networks and the many hostels and hotels nearby are one of the most convenient places to stay during your visit.

The district around it is largely dominated by the presence of the station. It is a lively, culturally eclectic area, with many bars, restaurants and a wider range of global cuisines than you find in many other areas of the city.
It also boasts numerous fabulous churches and museums.

Attractions:

Planetarium
This often undiscovered gem was once part of the largest of the Ancient Roman public baths, built by the Emperor Diocletian in 306AD, the planetarium now houses a small collection of wonderful statues, including two incredible ancient Greek bronzes.
Entrance is free. Open daily (exc. Sundays) 9am - 2pm.

Church of San Pietro in Vincoli
This church is justly famous for the fact that it houses one of Michaelangelo's most famous statues, the Moses (pictured above right) which he executed as part of the tomb of Pope Julius II. Added to that, it also holds the 'miraculous' chains which held St. Peter both in Jerusalem and Rome.
