Flood Damage Restoration and Rectification Procedures

Initial consideration will be given in two areas for emergency work, including drying and restoration. Our technician will be grateful for your assistance in providing as much information as possible about the incident and for an opportunity to inspect the affected areas.

Once the assessment has been completed an estimate will be submitted to your Insurers or Loss Adjusters for their approval.

Emergency work may involve the following

  • Application of anti-microbial solution to prevent mould and mildew growth and kill waterborne bacteria and viruses in sewage and external water incidents.
  • Extraction of standing water
  • Removal of content items, if applicable, deemed to be beyond economical restoration.
  • Moisture testing to determine the extent of moisture content in structural material, floor coverings and in the air.
  • Removal of burnt/charred building materials and/or contents items dependant upon policy cover.
  • Installation of drying equipment such as dehumidifiers and air-movers, injector drying and air filtration

After the emergency work has been completed our technician will assess contents items to determine the possibility of successful restoration.

Building and Contents

With regard to a damaged building and contents a drying and monitoring program will be discussed with you and the technician will arrange to regularly monitor the reduction of moisture in the building structure and contents including floor coverings.

Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to determine the exact length of time it will take to dry the property as this can depend upon several factors including the depth of any standing water, the length of time the structure was submerged or wet and the structural materials used, some of which create vapor. Regular monitoring will provide an ongoing record of the progress over a 48 hour to 96 hour period.

If damage has been caused to decorations and fixtures, these will most likely be dealt with separately by your Insurers or loss adjusters.

Upon completion of restoration work you will be requested by the technician to confirm your satisfaction by signing a form. This will enable a report to be submitted to your insurers for prompt settlement.
