E Pluribus Unum!

Here are the chronicles of an American family--unique, yet exemplary of the meaning of "American." This family traces its foundations in America to Native peoples on this continent and includes some of the most prominent colonial families. In addition to our American Indian roots, we're Scots, Africans, French, English, and German. We're Catholics, Huguenots, Baptists, Muslims and (perhaps) Jews. We served in the Revolutionary War (some of us were Tories!) and on both sides in the War Between the States. Some of us were slaves; some of us, slaveowners. Today, our American family is a family of many American families and we're found at all levels of American society. We honor and celebrate all of our cousins and try to tell their stories here.  We're the sum of all who went before us, with the opportunity to make those who come after us even greater.  Out of many families, one great family, one great nation. That's the meaning of "American."
