Types of Decision Support Systems The earliest DSS tended to draw on small subsets of corporate data and were heavily model driven. Recent advances in computer processing and database technology have expended the definition of a DSS to include systems that can support decision making by analyzing vast quantities of a data, including firm wide data from enterprise systems and transaction data from the Web Today, there are two basic types of decision support systems, model driven and data driven.
