Shell:
A little swollen, teeth strong, two light grey-brown bands on dorsum, base and extremities marked with black specks.
Animal:
Mantle- thin, light brown, few papillae, foot- grey, siphon- smooth, edged with black.
Region:
Atlantic and Carribean from Cape Hatteras to Bahia Blanca(east coast, USA to east coast, South America).
Habitat:
2 to 78 feet, sand, sponges, and under coral slabs and stones.
Notes:
Fresh specimin is deep purple with outstanding lustre, fades to tan in storage.
