Entry #26:  Thoughts Evolving

Today in the mail I received a letter from the Noetic Society.  It was an invitation to join their institution.  I didnt know what it was about, but I thought it had something to do with the mind because of the style of the letters art and the base root of the word.  Sure enough, when I opened and read, it talked about human consciousness, individual growth through self understanding and how the world is affected by each individuals thoughts and beliefs.  Reading about this set my mind to thinking about my own beliefs into human consciousness and the progress that man attains.

Being that my beliefs begin with God, I can look back at the days of Adam and Eve in the time of the garden of Eden.  They were innocent in the eyes of the lord.  They knew not sin for their minds were closed to it.  Then, Satan came and tricked them into eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  Their minds were opened to new Truths which they werent meant to know.  They disobeyed God and they knew their sins.

It is because of this beginning of man, taught in the book of Genesis, that I have formed a hypothesis.  I consider the possibility that to some extent the knowledge attained by them has been passed down to each of their descendants (as were their sins).  Much of it however may be locked away in our subconscious minds.  But as we develop as a race, more and more may slowly leak out and hence we see slow, steady progress (or evolution of the mind as some may see it).  This I consider may account for many or most peoples innate sense of right and wrong.  I havent come to any definite conclusions on these ideas, but I feel it is an insight to consider further.
