| Yang Guo follows Wanyan Ping until she stops to brood over what happened when she failed to kill Yelu Qi. Yang Guo tells her that she should abandon her quest for vengeance since her resolve is not strong enough to allow her to kill someone. Just then, the white masked girl, who had helped Yang Guo and Lu Wu Shuang before, arrives to tell them that Li Mo Chou (Serpent Deity) and Hong Ling Bo are on their way to Da Shen Guan where the Beggar Sect disciples are convening. (NOTE: Lu Wu Shuang had told Li Mo Chou and Hong Ling Bo before that the Book of Five Poisons had been stolen by some disciples of Beggar Sect. The white masked girl has therefore supposed that they are now going after them.) At Da Shen Guan, Yang Guo blends in with the crowd by disguising himself as a Beggar Sect pupil. He also wears a white mask to hide his face. Li, Hong, and Wu Shuang arrive a little later. Li begins threatening the Beggar Sect disciples that if they do not return her book, she would kill a thousand of their members everyday. The men recognize her as the notorious Serpent Deity and believe that Li would carry out her threats. Afraid for their lives, they flee from Da Shen Guan. At that moment, Yang Guo steps in front of Li Mo Chou and says that he knows where the book is. He further adds that he would return it in exchange for Lu Wu Shuang's release. Li sets a meeting with him the next day at the Layered Rocks overlooking the river. That morning, Yang Guo arrives at the designated place early and waits anxiously for the white masked girl and Wanyan Ping who are late in coming. After some time, Li and her companions arrive. She immediately asks for the book, holding her duster menacingly at the young man. Faced with no other choice, Yang Guo throws the book towards the river below the Layered Rocks, hoping to distract Li long enough to grab Wu Shuang. But Li is much too quick for him as she grabs the book and almost simultaneously attacks him. Yang Guo's mask comes off, surprising his attackers completely. Li's anger grows even more when she finds out that the book is a fake copy. Page 1 Page 2 |
