Before Ou Yang Feng could have another relapse of his memory illness, Yang Guo tells him who he is. But when he mentions the name, his godfather reacts violently and says that Ou Yang Feng is a bad man. He attacks Hong Qi Gong, thinking that he is, as he said, Ou Yang Feng.
The two masters thus fight each other using their special chi techniques. Some hours pass and Yang Guo decides to just cook something in case one of them grows hungry. The smell of food stops Hong Qi Gong in mid-fight. He sits in front of the fire and proceeds to eat his fill.
"Old man, come back here. I won't let you get away!" Ou Yang Feng challenges before he lunges towards the sitting master.
Hong Qi Gong calmly answers him by handing him some food. The gesture surprises Ou Yang Feng but he acknowledges that he is hungry and sits down to eat. Hong Qi Gong then asks Yang Guo why he calls the amnesiac man 'Father.' Yang Guo relates to him how Ou Yang Feng saved his life once and how in his gratitude, he never forgot the debt he owed.
Hong Qi Gong was surprised to hear this for he knows for a fact that Ou Yang Feng is an evil person. But he supposes that Yang Guo must have reminded him of his own dead son, Ou Yang Ke. He then tells Yang Guo how a long time ago, a contest was held between the great martial arts heroes in Jiang Hu. The price was possession of the secret book, the Scripture of Jiu Yin.
Hong Qi Gong who was still leader of Northern Beggar Sect at the time, competed with the other kung fu leaders -- Wong Chong Yang of All True Sect (Quan Zhen), East Heretic Huang Yao Shi, Western Poison Ou Yang Feng, and Yi Deng of the South Empire.
The All True Sect founder outmatched them all and emerged as the winner. Wong, who was a Taoist, believed that the book corrupted men's souls and so he decided that no one should ever use it. Hong Qi Gong realized later how he had been blinded by the desire to be the best and saw the wisdom of Wong's action. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 |
