| John Fabian was selected as an astronaut in NASA's eighth class (1978). His first mission came in 1983 when he served as a mission specialist on STS-7. Next, he flew as a mission specialist on the STS-51-G mission in 1985. Fabian retired from NASA in 1985 having logged 13 days in space.
