| Jon McBride was selected as an astronaut in NASA's eighth class (1978). During his career, he made only one space flight. That came in 1984 when he served as the pilot on board the STS-41-G space shuttle flight. He was assigned to a second mission but it was cancelled following the Challenger accident.
