Richard James M. Mendoza - Info

About

With an unconventional background on information technology, mixed with multimedia,
and news coverage, Richard James Mendoza prides himself as an "outsider practitioner"
fighting for a spot on the proverbial table.

He previously freelanced for both local and foreign news agencies, including Demotix, Pacific Press Agency,
ABS-CBN News Online, GMA News, Ruptly, and A24 News Agency. He currently contributes for Nur Photo
as a photo stringer. His photographs have been published both locally and internationally, including Time,
Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Washington Post and CNN.

Prior to visual journalism, Mendoza worked part-time for TV shows
on the now-defunct Global News Network, "Talk News TV" and "Journeys: Chronicles of an Asian Century."

Mendoza was an associate member of the Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP)
from February 2017 to March 2023, and is now its Regular Member.

Mendoza is a undergraduate student of AMA University Online Education, a distance learning institution, taking up
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and is currently on pause as he tries to finish his college degree
in between personal and work-related issues.

Outside of journalism, he became part of Manila Wrestling Federation's Visuals Team,
a pro-wrestling promotion based in Manila, Philippines from October 2018 to December 2019.

On his so-called "formal career," Mendoza was first employed by Stage Craft International Inc. in 2019
as part of its ad-hoc Documentation Team for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, and by the
RGFS Group of Companies as their IT and Multimedia Specialist under its Marketing department.

He was also an IT Specialist at Arlington Memorial Chapels, Inc., a family-owned funeral/deathcare company under its
Business Technology department, managing not only its IT-related hardware, but also facilitated livestreams through Zoom.

Mendoza was previously with Communication Foundation for Asia, a religious non-profit and non-stock office
associated with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSc) specializing in developmental communication,
as its Digital Media Supervisor for the Creative Communication Department's Multimedia Production section.

During his free time, Mendoza may stream on Twitch, on occasion, streaming art sessions and video games.

Attempting to restart his previous freelancing career, he covers topics from politics, daily life, human interest,
public transport and mobility, and religion. Mendoza is available for assignments and collaborations.
