Dr. Dolittle 2

Dr. Dolittle 2 The sequel to Eddie Murphy’s Dr. Dolittle did little, at least, for me anyway. Forest animals have turned to the good Doctor for help in keeping their forest from being torn down by developers. The only way to do so is to get a circus bear to, uh, perpetuate the species with the last surviving female bear of his type living in the forest. But the circus bear doesn't want to leave show biz and the female bear thinks he's not very...bearly. Worse, Dr. Dolittle's own family life is going down the drain as he discovers he may be able to talk to the animals, but talking to his sixteen year old daughter is much more difficult

There were laughs in Dr. Dolittle II, but it never quite clicked for me. The humor behind talking animals wore old fairly quickly and the relationships between the human characters were pretty clichéd. The toilet humor, so prevalent in Eddie Murphy’s recent films, wasn't as bad here as I feared it would be, but was still pretty gross in places. And finally, sad to say, but Eddie Murphy who was once one of the funniest actors in the business has simply lost a step and doesn't seem to know how to get back his rhythm.

I'd advise giving this movie a miss at the theatres and only renting it once it comes out on video if you're a major Eddie Murphy fan. This is one film that should only make house calls.
