Stuart Little

Stuart Little Stuart Little was just a little too silly for me. The Littles are a normal family looking to adopt a child, but who instead adopt; not as a pet, but as a son, a small, white talking mouse named Stuart. Mickey would be so proud. Of course, this results in their biological son being disappointed because, understandably, he wanted a human brother or sister his size with whom he could play. The relatives are somewhat disconcerted as well and the family cat is outraged, humiliated and maybe even hungry.

Ok, the special effects in Stuart Little are excellent, the voice work, especially that by Michael J. Fox as Stuart, is well done and the acting by both the human cast and the live animals is very good. Kids, ranging from about five years old and on up, will enjoy the movie on different levels even though its not animation and most adults will probably enjoy it as well. As for myself though, I didnt care for this film. Im not sure why, Ive seen and enjoyed sillier films then this with my kids, but something about this film put me off. I just never could suspend my sense of disbelief enough to accept a human family adopting a small white mouse; not even one that talks and is as charming as Stuart. At one point I was almost rooting for the cat to make lunch out of Stuart. Stuart Little is a good movie, but I guess I just dont like mice.

Id recommend this film because I know children, if no one else, will truly enjoy it even if I didnt. So be a man (or a woman) and not a mouse and take your kids to see it. Theyll enjoy it and heck; you can always root for the cat.
