Tarzan

Tarzan Wow! And I mean every word of that. While no more faithful to the original novel then any other adaption of Edgar Rice Burroughs work Disney's version is by far the most faithful to it's spirit. The animation is fully up to Disney's high standards; the action is non-stop and, best of all, the humor is top rate. The music is very good; not the best Disney has every come up with, I'll admit, but still well up to Disney's standards. My only complaint is that, other then Tarzan, the human characters suffer a bit too much from the Disney stereotype. You could pick any of the human characters up, be it Prof. Porter, Jane or Clayton and plunk them down in another Disney movie with very little change. I guess they do this because their movies are oriented for kids, but does the bad guy have to look so much like a bad guy? Or the intellectual guy to look so much like a bumbling nerd? Other then that, I thought it to be the best Disney movie I've seen since Beauty and the Beast.

My four year old daughter Ashley, the Heathen Child, enjoyed the movie as much as I did, in fact, we're going to see it again, but she did find parts of it a bit unsettling. The fight scenes
are fairly intense and while any deaths that occur do so off camera, they obviously made her a little uncomfortable. Tarzan is a great movie for kids, but be aware that it is a bit intense in places before taking any child to see it especially if your child tends to be a bit sensitive.
