This page (to be updated with text soon) will attempt to provide a guide to pulling (reading) the fault codes stored by the above mentioned SAAB 900 16-valve cars. (8-valve 900s do not have this fault-code storage capability, nor do LH 2.2 cars). These fault codes can provide useful information when troubleshooting the cars listed above in red because the LH 2.4 computer controls many aspects of the engine's operation, including: fuel injector timing, cold and warm idle speed, "idle-up" for idling under load of the air conditioner, fuel cut-off during deceleration (manual trans.), rev limiting fuel cut-off, emissions canister (ELCD or Evaporative Loss Control Device valve), etc. The LH 2.4 computer has a "handle" on what's going on inside the engine. It can give useful insight as to any problems since it receives information from the spark knock sensor, coolant temperature sensor, oxygen sensor, Air Mass Meter (AMM), EZK spark control (ignition computer), and others. |
