Brenda's Girly Girl

2003 Red Bay Brindle filly out of the Brindle mare Brenda Batty Atty by the mahogany bay AQHA stallion Ima Star Brindle Bar, who is a carrier of the seasonal brindle pattern from his dam Im A Star Moon Bar. Ima Star Brindle Bar has reproduced the seasonal brindle pattern in his offspring even though he shows no visible striping himself. (For examples of crosses on non-brindle mares refer to the foals Shadow's One and Brindle Batty Atty).

Brenda's Girly Girl is an own daughter of Brenda Batty Atty (foundation mare for one family line of Brindles). Foals from Brenda's line are born with the pattern and exhibit the pattern year-round. Note the "moth-eaten" appearance caused by raised tufts of hair, indicating different hair lengths characteristic of the pattern in this family group.

Brenda's Girly Girl is registered in the Half Quarter Registry (12619 1/2) and the IBHA (A-23667). She is also a full sister to the strikingly patterned Brindle Brenda's Millennium.

The brindle pattern from her family line is proven to be inheritable. Brenda's family line has shown an approximate 50% inheritability of their type of brindle pattern from crosses on non-brindles, and an even higher percentage on crosses between the two family lines. So far from limited breedings, Brenda (type 1) has had 100% brindle foals when bred to Star's colt (type 2). Over time, it should average out to 75%.
