Background



A lot of times I leave the sketches without a formal background. However, sometimes there is something to illustrate in the story besides the heroine and her clothes. This is basically done with cut and paste, creating a background then pasting the figure sketch into it.

Detail is added to the background, even if it covers part of the image of the figure. The figure can be pasted in as often as you like to cover the background (and, of course, earlier pastes of the figure).

Once the background is complete, the sketch is cropped to a final size, fixing anything else you want. In this case, I decided the dark blue looked better than the dark red, so I changed her gown color by replacing each shade of red with a corresponding shade of blue.
