Diagram of the SF&SA RR
Temporary Drawing
There are two basic levels to the SF&SA RR.  The High Line which includes the Engine Yard, Union Station, City and Butte Line trackage, is located between 4in and 5in above the Table Level  trackage.  The Table Level trackage which is basically everthing else, includes some small 1/2in ups and downs.  There are five continuous running tracks with two auto-reversing tracks.
There are two major cutouts in the tables allowing for deep canyons and rivers.
Minimum 11in radius curves used throughout, with some 18in radius curves on mainline trackage.   A small amount of 9in radius curves are used only on the upper level Butte and City lines.  Mainline switches are #8 or "Y's" with some #6 switches used in the Staging Area and City line.   #4 switches are used in the Engine Yard.   The longest mainline run will be 56 feet when finished, with 3 main line runs of approximately 20 feet.
N-Scale Layout
Digitrax DCC is used within the Engine Yard and can be switched on for useage on any of the mainline runs.  DC is used on the auto-reversing tracks.  DC is also the favored mode of operation on the mainline tracks so that the signaling system, installed before DCC was added, can continue to be used.
Multiple powers supplies provide 1.5volts, 3volts, 4.5volts, 12volts and 15-18volts DC as well as 9volts and 12-15volts  AC to the layout.   These are in addition to the variable
0-12volt DC track supplies.  Layout lighting is provided by 120volt ceiling track lighting as well as multiple string minilights in blue and white for scenic effects.
