Bazza

Frequento la cosidetta “scena” da parecchi anni ormai e come molti sanno oltre ad essere un patito di football e un amante del buon cibo, sono anche un fervido cultore delle sonoritá jamaicane. Devo peró ammettere che nonostante mi piacciano anche le sonoritá jamaicane piú prettamente mod oriented e quindi apprezzi molto, collezioni e spesso suoni sia r&b e soul jamaicano sia ska, per me sono rocksteady e soprattutto il reggae a farla da padroni. Parlando francamente è’ del reggae che sono un fanatico ed un devoto. Negli ultimi anni oltre che all’All Saints di Lavarone che co-organizzo, ho avuto la possibilitá di mettere i dischi a diverse serate ed eventi mod e skinhead sia in Italia che all’estero, ma mi piace sempre ricordare le serate Reggae Main Event e i Reggae Got Soul Allnighters a Milano assieme a Flavio (ora Reggae Recipe ad Amsterdam) e il primo 60’s Jamaica a Roma, perchè per tutta una serie di motivi quelle serate miravano a mettere in discussione degli stereotipi e a “ricollocare” la musica jamaicana all’interno della scena italiana, modificando il generale atteggiamento verso queste sonoritá. Quindi “”Sit back, relax, have a coke, crake a joke. Put on your dancing shoes and listen..”

I’m involved into the so called “scene” for years now, and as many people know well, I’m a football addict, a food enthusiast and an impassionate collector and lover of jamaican music. Even if I like all the spectrum of jamaican sounds and I collect and often play the pretty mod sound of Caribbean r&b, soul and ska, I should admit that I’m more addicted to the skinhead boss sounds of Jamaica. Frankly speaking, I’m infact a reggae fanatic. In the last years, apart at the All Saints of Lavarone that I co-organize, I had the possibility to play my records in several mod weekenders and skinhead do’s in Italy and abroad, but I always like to remember and quote the Reggae Main Event and Reggae Got Soul Allnightes in Milan with Flavio (now Regge Recipe in Amsterdam) and the first 60’s Jamaica in Rome, because for several reasons those events tried to weak some stereotypes and aimed to relocate the jamaican music into the italian scene changing the general attitude toward this sound. So “Sit back, relax, have a coke, crake a joke. Put on your dancing shoes and listen..”

Sono quindici anni che frequento la scena mod italiana e ho avuto sempre una grande passione per lo Ska. Andare ai party e sentire poca di questa musica, mi ha spinto a comprare dischi per cercare di ascoltare sempre qualcosa di nuovo e la curiosit` ben presto si h trasformata in passione, una passione divisa in Ska, R&B giamaicano e qualcosa di Early Reggae. Since 15 years I participate to the Italian mod scene and I always had a great passion for ska music. Going to event and listening few of this music, pushed me to buy records in order to listen to something new and curiosity shifted in passion toward ska, jamaican r&b and some early reggae. Iniziai ad appassionarmi alla musica ska dalla seconda metà degli anni 80 con la terza ondata dello ska revival, mi sono avvicinato piano piano ad innamorarmi dello ska original jamaicano. Con il passare degli anni ho cominciato a collezionare vinile di musica jamaicana dal r&b allo ska jazz, dal rocksteady all'early reggae. Da diversi anni organizzo serate mod/soul/ska a Roma con l'obbiettivo di diffondere la passione per questa musica a piy gente possibile. Ho suonato a diversi appuntamenti mod in giro per ltalia proponendo principalmente ska original, but also jazz, r&b and soul.

Started as a fan of ska music in the second half of eighties with the third wave of ska revival, I began to know original jamaican ska sounds, for which I fell in love. With time I started to collect vinyl of jamaican music from r&b to ska jazz, from rocksteady to early reggae. Since several years I organise mod/soul/ska events in Rome with the main purpose to spread passion for this music to as many people as possible. I played to several mod rallies around Italy, mainly selecting ska, but also jazz, r&b and soul.

Alex Coopasetic aka Sir Pempelem (Hamburg  Germany)

L'essere un maniaco di musica a tutto tondo è un aspetto fondamentale di Alex Copasteic, aka Sir Pempelem: egli colleziona un vasto spettor di musica anni sessanta dal soul allo ska al reggae al r&b al beat, ma per la serata si concentrerà sulla sua collezione jamaicana. quando non è impegnato a selezionare dischi nel circuito sixties tra Parigi, Berlino, Amburgo e Lipsia (egli è un resident del Summer Safari), Alex gestisce il mail order Copasetic e l'etichetta copaseDisques (Moving Sounds, Staggers, Giljoteens, The What For, ...). Ha cominciato organizzando serate a Bonn, si è poi trasferito ad Aachen (Magic Potion) e vive ora ad Amburgo dove organizza il Kings'n'Queens Weekender una volta all'anno con djs internazionali e selezionando musica al Biff Bang Pow 60s Club.

The burdon of being a full-blooded music-maniac weights heavy on Alex Copasetic aka. Sir Pempelem: He collects a vast spectrum of sixties-sounds from Soul to Ska to Reggae to R&B and Beat, but will focus tonight on the jamaican part of his collection. When not spinning records on the 6Ts-partys-circuit between Paris, Berlin, Hamburg and Leipzig (he's a Summer Safari resident DJ), he runs the Copasetic mailorder and copaseDisques label (Moving Sounds, Staggers, Giljoteens, The What For, ...) He started setting up nighters in Bonn, moved on to Aachen (Magic Potion) and now ended up in Hamburg doing the Kings'n'Queens Weekender once a year with international DJs and spinning vinyl at Biff Bang Pow 60s Club.

Dani Alphaboys (Barcelona – Catalunya - Spain)

Ciao a tutti! Mi chiamo Dani, ho 25 anni e sono uno skinhad original di Barcelona, Catalonia. Curo l'edixione della fanzine Alphaboys (da cui come capirete deriva il mio nickname) che è dedicata alla cosiddetta "golden era" della musica jamaicana: bluebeat, rocksteady e early reggae. Ovviamente sempre e solo secondo il punto di vista di un ragazzo dai capelli corti in crombie e bretelle, chiaro. A Barcelona ho organizzato per tre anni il Boss reggae Allnighter e il Double Barrel Allnighter, con la presenza di dj internazionali – nonché buoni amici - provenienti da Francia, Italia, Germania, inghilterra e Spagna. Adesso sto organizzando il Moonshot Reggae Club con la mia ragazza ( e manager eh eh) Neus, ma al momento siamo alla ricerca di un nuovo locale e quindi un attimo in stand by. Ho messo i dischi a diversi allnighter, scooter rallies e weekenders in giro per la Spagna e ho anche suonato in Germania al grandioso Kings'n Queens allnighter di Amburgo. In ottobre metteró nuovamente i dischi in Germania al Lux Club di Meinz. Sará la mia prima volta ai piatti in Italia, quindi potete immaginare quanto sia contento.Voglio quindi ringraziare gli organizzatori del 60's Jamaica per l'invito. Spero possiate gradire le mie selezioni. Suoneró con molta attenzione e (molta birra..) per tutti gli amanti del boss sound italiani. Dani "Alpha Boys".

My name's Dani and I'm a 25 years old trad skinhead from Barcelona, Catalonia.  Editor of a reggae zine called Alpha Boys (so you can now understand why Alpha Boys is my nickname...) dedicated to the golden era of the jamaican music: bluebeat, rocksteady and early reggae, always under the point of view of a short-haired man wearing braces and a crombie coat, you know... Used to organize the Boss Reggae Allnighter and Double Barrel Allnighter in Barcelona for 3 years, with international DJs-and also good friends-  from France,  Italy, Germany,

UK and Spain.Nowadays I'm organizing the Moonshot Reggae Club with my lovely girlfriend (and manager hehehe) Neus but we' re now in standby looking for a new venue. I've travelled with my record case for playing records at nighters, scooter rallies and weekenders around Spain and I've also played in the great Kings'n Queens allnighter in Hamburg (Germany). In october I'll be djing again in Germany at the Lux Club party in Mainz (Germany). Will be my first time spinning here in Italy so as you can imagine I'm very happy and want to say thanks to the 60s Jamaica organization for the invitation. Hope you enjoy my record selection. Ciao mi chiamo Bernardino ho 25 anni e sono di Latina. Sono un collezionista di skinhead reggae, rock steady e northern soul. Giro molto in Italia ed Inghilterra per frequentare serate northern soul, reggae e raduni scooteristi infatti sono appassionato anche di scooters, soprattutto di Lambrette (skelly). Ho messo i dischi al warm-up del blue bar, e al right track.

Bernardino is 25 years old and lives in Latina (near Rome). He is a collector of skinhead reggae, rock steady and northern soul. He travels around Italy and Britain in search of northern soul nighters, reggae and scooter rallies (IOW on top of all !). He is a devoted scooterist, especially lambrettas skelly types. He spun record at the Blue Bar R&B Club Warm-Up session and at the The Right Track, premiere mod club in Rome.
