spacer.gif (836 bytes)A look at the launch tube set built for Battlestar Galactica, from the original Universal blueprints. The set is 56 feet across the back and 56 feet across the side, not counting the small launch tube extension in front of the full-sized viper mockup.

1. The full-sized viper mockup on the launch track.

2. A giant cutout picture of a viper on its launch track was placed here to give the illusion of depth to the set.

3. This is very interesting; a forklift parked out of sight provides the power for the working launch bay elevator!

4. This is a non-functional elevator in the next tube.

5. This small cutout from another blueprint shows how the full-sized viper mockup rested on its landing gear, cleverly concealed inside the launch track.
