In my judgement, this is one of the failed works
with the participation of Timothy Dalton. Finished in 1986, this movie "lay on
the shelf" until 1989 and appeared on the screens in film theatres almost
simultaneously with "Hawks" directed by Robert Ellis Miller too.
"Brenda Starr" are the fantasies
of the young comics draftsman Michael Randell (Tony Rick) about young and
beautiful newswoman Brenda (Brooke Shields), who easily extricates herself
from the bad thought-out and assertedly jocose situations with the help of
an enigmatic one-eyed knight Basil St John (Timothy Dalton).
"Brenda Starr" was aired on Russian TV many
times and a lot of viewrs, probably, remember Timothy's appearence on a horse,
in a cloak of Spanish grand and in a mask "a la Zorro", his narration about
black orchids to Brenda Starr while they were sitting at the table in a
restaurant or his appearence in a country hash house as adept in local booze
and customs. In this picture you can see Timothy where he reminds you of
Gregory Peck's heroes in westerns.
All the scenes with the participation of
Timothy Dalton were played by him with great humor, but the rest.
