I'm Sorry by DJ Ahren
© 4/18/2007 Ahren Bader-Jarvis

I see a friend
as someone who I look up to
I see a fool
As someone who would kill
I see my friend
Excited to become a fool
Now tell me who am I
s’posed to look up to?
Should I look up to those
Who have values like I do?
Should I pray to the sky
Or should I try to
Persuade him not to be a
Soldier in the war
“Just ‘cause you do it, dude,
doesn’t make you hardcore”
I know you say that it is
All for your son
But taking lives of many
Isn’t worth bettering one
Stuff can get crazy
And when it hits the fan
I hope you’ll be a man
And just try to understand

I’m sorry
For the blood and the tears
Shed through the years
And lives spent like bills
I’m sorry
For all of my peers
Who ignore their fears
To fire guns at will
I’m sorry
For the lives lost
Raising the emotional
And money costs
I’m sorry
That we forgot about love
But I want to remind you
No matter who you are
I love you

Little six-year-old Suzie
Said goodbye to her brother
As he was shipped off
To do four years of work
he’s working for the army
Soon to discover
That killing for a living
Isn’t his kind of work
Little six-year-old Lahara
Said goodbye to her mother
When she passed away
Gun shot to the head
She was killed by Suzie’s
Older soldier brother
And after taking that life
He wished he were dead
When his fellow soldiers found him
He lay next to a note
An eye for an eye
Is what he had wrote
When the world goes blind
I don’t wanna have to see it
Please forgive me of my sins lord
Take this soul and free it
Little Suzie cried and cried
When she heard the news
Of her older brothers death
She didn’t know what to do
Suzie’s mother found out
About Lahara’s loss
And In her grief she wrote a letter
That goes like this

I’m sorry
For the blood and the tears
Shed through the years
And lives spent like bills
I’m sorry
For all of my peers
Who ignore their fears
To fire guns at will
I’m sorry
For the lives lost
Raising the emotional
And money costs
I’m sorry
That we forgot about love
But I want to remind you
No matter who you are
I love you

All I can say is I’m sorry
For all this grief and the pain
Originated by the white house
In the united states of A
America
The land of the free
Woops did I say free
I meant hypocrisy
A nation causing pain
is what I see
This will not lead
To peace and serenity
Children loose their mothers
Do we want that reality?
The only path to change
Is to love unconditionally
Drop the weapons…
Drop the hate…
For that is what
Complicates…
And before it's too late
Let's show some love
Give your neighbor a hug
Let's rise above the
Violence
That doesn't get us anywhere
Reach out to a stranger
Show them that you care
A world full of love
Will evolve when
The war stops
But until then
I’m sorry
For the blood and the tears
Shed through the years
And lives spent like bills
I’m sorry
For all of my peers
Who ignore their fears
To fire guns at will
I’m sorry
For the lives lost
Raising the emotional
And money costs
I’m sorry
That we forgot about love
But I want to remind you
No matter who you are
YOU ARE LOVE
