Well, your probably thinking, it's May 8, WHERE'S THE DAMN INTERVIEW? In response to this I could have made up a fake story and interview and said it was real just to not have myself look bad, but I'm not going to do that. I will be totally honest to the fans that visit this site in saying that we've all kind of been cheated out of it by the mysterious disappearance of Impact Gaming and it's staff. You see about two months ago, I moved the site over to the Impact Gaming's domain after talking extensively with the webmaster and making arrangements for the move. According to what I was told, they were to launch a new IGN style website on March 8. I also was promised unlimited web-space, a new email address, access to cgi-scripting, java scripts/classes, chat-lines, BBS, games to review, equipment to enhance the site, eventually my OWN domain name, and a whole bunch of perks and extras that seemed too good to be true. I didn't really care too much about most of the perks (considering I get nothing for putting this site on the internet anyway) except the unlimited free space to put up anything I wanted and a promised indirect interview with Shigeru Miyamoto. They seemed very legitimate, and looked to really have things on a roll, but then things just started going wrong. During March there was a period when a serious malfunction transpired with the server that hosted Impact Gaming, and I could neither download or upload any new information or receive mail from that domain without a laborious wait time. This was a total bummer, and visitors to the site kept saying it took about 10 to 20 minutes to bring up the site, which was true. After about a week and a half this problem subsided and things started working properly again, so I reposted the site back at Impact Gaming's domain and redirected traffic that usually goes to this site to that site. The webmaster I was in contact with assured me that the problems would be over and they would unveil Impact Gaming within the week. Soon after (A few weeks April 5 to be exact) the server wouldn't accept my password, and I was completely unable to update the site. I tried daily for a week and no dice. I started getting pissed, but remained professional about the issue, but got no respose whatsoever from the webmaster for over two weeks. I reposted the site back at it's old address in order to keep the site going and updated. After I finally did receive a brief letter after numerous inquiries, I was told that they were in the process of solving a dispute with their Web-Host and that was the last letter I recieved about three weeks to a month ago. I've tried to communicate with these guys at Impact Gaming since but get nothing, not even an attempt to tell me what's going on or a sincere apology. I researched their site and found that it's main domain entrance had been replaced by an ad for a Web Host called Web Hosting Network. I visited the Web Host's main site and emailed the info desk to find out what happened to Impact Gaming and was told that they had fallen into a "high resource" clause of their terms of service agreement. In my letter I asked If I could take down the defunct "Odyssey of Hyrule" site via temporary access, but I received no response on this issue. You may think that I've made all this up just to "cover my ass" so to speak, but I must iterate that this isn't the case. The whole move to Impact Gaming proved to be a total hassle, and didn't better the site in any way. Here are some Exhibits to prove my case:Exhibit A: Impact Gaming's Domain Address replaced with ad - www.impactgaming.net Exhibit B: Un-updated (Since March 8!) Impact Gaming Nintendo 64 site - www.impactgaming.net/nintendo64/ Exhibit C: "The Odyssey of Hyrule" Un-updated since April 4 (Defunct Website) due to loss of access! - www.impactgaming.net/odyssey/zelda64.htm Exhibit D: A copy of the response from Administration regarding Impact Gaming's Site and my loss of access granted by Impact Gaming. Hi This account has fallen under the HIGH RESOURCE SITE rules of our web hosting They have failed to respond to our requests so the site will be shut down within 48 hours if the account holder does not email us Thank you Gary Peltola Web Hosting Network Geez, talk about no options here. No... THANK YOU (*sarcasm*) there buddy! I guess this pretty much sums up the demise of Impact Gaming or mysterious evaporation of their web presensce. The phase "What the Hell Happened?" comes to mind. Jerking the webmaster of "The Odyssey of Hyrule" around will automatically find you a permanent seat on the Wall of Shame but in this case I feel that there was some internal deterioration in the staff behind the name and the site that caused all this to happen. From my communications there seemed to be some conflicts between staff members and their duties, and in the end it all went nowhere. I kind of feel like it wasn't something that was meant to happen or willfully imposed upon Video Gamer X, but rather just a huge SNAFU that ended everything. I hold no malace toward Impact Gaming's webmaster because it seemed that he was trying to hold everything together with little success and in the end he pretty much gave up. There also remains the possibility that this was some kind of masterminded ploy to meet with and communicate with Video Gamer X and understand him more, but of this I can't make any founded assumptions. All in all, it's just a really messed up set of circumstances that demolished something before it got off the ground. Originally I was told "The Odyssey of Hyrule" and Impact Gaming would be interviewing "The Master" Shigeru Miyamoto himself. Impact Gaming's webmaster was to meet with him prior to E3 and discuss some issues. I was going to relay a set of questions to be asked and they were going to get them answered by him directly then finally they would be returned to me answered with pictures and memorabilia (i.e. photos, autograph) to prove the incident transpired. That was the plan, but alas it didn't work out that way, and here I am today writing this "cry in my beer" page about losing that groundbreaking interview. All I can say is that I'm truly sorry this whole thing happened and I got people's hopes up about the interview only to show up empty handed. Trust me, I'm not happy about it either, but I'm not going to dwell on this issue beyond this point. It's time to move on, and move on I will to greater and more fantastic things.
