6 Day 5 Night Namaqualand Wild Flower Coach TourDay 1: Velddrif

Departure 07:00 from Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town and travel up through the West Coast. We will stop at Mamre Mission to view the church, Darling, Ysterfontein to smell the ocean, West Coast National Park, Postberg Nature Reserve to see a wonder filled flower display and onto Langebaan, Saldanha Bay for some history. We will travel to Velddrif via the Fossil Park to view 60000 years of local history and Laaiplek. Overnight in Velddrif LDBB.

Day 2: Lamberts Bay

Departure 08:30 towards Lamberts Bay via Laaiplek. We will visit the Dutch Reform Church in Piketberg and travel over the Cederberg Mountains to Citrusdal and Clanwilliam for a visit to the Ramskop Flower Reserve for a walk in the flowers and to get some seed. Then we travel via the coast to Lamberts Bay to visit the Bird Island favorite haunt of cormorants, gannets and other bird species. Overnight in Lamberts Bay LDBB

Day 3: Lutzville

Departure 08:30 we will travel to Gentleman's Lodgings in Graafwater for a look back as far aso 1686. We will also Rooibos Tea Board for some tea and the Strassberger Leather Shoe Factory to view local industry. We will then travel into the mountains to see Leipolt's Grave and visit the Biedouw Valley to see the most flower filled place in the Cederberg. Overnight in Lutzville LDBB.

Day 4: Springbok

Departure 08:30 we will visit the Namaqua Wines for a wine tasting and onto the Succulent Nursery at Vanrhynsdorp then travel northward on the N7 through the fields of wild flowers - the heart of the Namaqualand. Stop en route at the Skilpad - Namaqua National Park and the Kamieskroon Mountains. Overnight in Springbok LDBB.  

Day 5: Nieuwoudtville

Departure 08:30 from Springbok and travel south on the Kliprand road to the Aloe Forest. We will also visit the Waterfall and the Matjiesfontien Wild Flower Farm in Nieuwoudtville for the best bulb display you have ever seen. We will also vitit the church and the glacial pavement. Overnight in Nieuwoudtville LDBB.

Day 6: Cape Town

Departure 07:00 for a visit to the Calvinia Museum. Then onto the Great Karoo with its unspoilt beauty and its flowers. We will stop at Sutherland and Matjiesfontein for afternoon tee. We will head for Cape Town on the N1. Drop off at Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town. Arrive back approximately 20:00 LB

Although personal tastes differ we suggest you pack:

Comfortable brown or beige or kaki color casual cloths that included: Long trousers, shorts, underwear, tracksuits, light walking shoes, long socks, 5 light shirts, long-sleeved shirt, sweater, bathing costume, light rainproof jacket or anorak and hat. 

Casual clothes for eveningwear, although a few up-market destinations will expect something more formal.

Essential Equipment:
Water bottle, personal toiletries, lip balm, sunscreen SPF 30+, insect repellent, waterproof copy of ID document / passport / plain tickets.

Prescription medications:
Make sure you have enough to last during your trip, as well as a copy of the prescription's.

Over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medicine (just in case!) if you think you'll have trouble finding a pharmacy on your trip.

Visa or MasterCard credit card and/or Travelers Cheques - Diners and American Express are not always accepted. Keep travel documents in a safe place - many airlines no longer resubmit lost tickets and require a police affidavit if you want to avoid paying the full fare for their replacement.
