MICHIGAN VITAL RECORDS

Writing to the state level to obtain birth, death and marriage records:

Birth: $13.00 Must provide, date of birth, mother and fathers name, child's name and place of birth. Birth's are restricted, and most Michigan Original Birth Certificates have been sealed. Sometime an adoptee get's lucky, but not often. Can take up to 3 weeks to get birth certificate.

Marriage: $13.00 Michigan marriages are indexed by groom's name, so it may be best to find the marriage certificate on a county level. Marriages are public information in this state. You must provide grooms name, wife's name and date of marriage. They will search over a time period if you request. Can take up to 4 months to receive the certificate.

Death: $13.00 Deaths are public information in this state. You must provide the name of the deceased, place and date of death. They will search over a time period if you request. Can take up to 4 months to receive the certificate.

Divorce: Divorce's are held in the Circuit County Court, in the county of the divorce, and can be viewed by the public. You can write for these on a county level, paying so much per page for copying fee's.


MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Fee: $6.55

Driving records are open to the public, you can make your request in writing, or call and charge to a Visa or Master Card. You must have the person's full name, and date of birth or drivers license number. To charge to Visa or Master Card call: 517-322-1624. If charged, you will get a response via the postal service within a few days. A request through the mail, may take a week or more.
