Corporate Structure
The Walt Disney Company as a whole is based on the Strategic Business Unit Structure. At the top of the chain of command sits Michael Eisner, CEO of the Walt Disney Empire. Each individual business unit has its own mission, competitors, marketing aspects, and control of business. This is the only sensible way to organize such large and vast resources. As for as employees go there are 120,000 in the books for this conglomerate. To see why the company is structured the was it is, we can look at this example. As Disney moves East, Far East, to Hong Kong where the market is booming for them we see vast resources and need for a different type of management and marketing, HR, and R&D teams. To look into the realm of similar corporations such as Viacom and AOL-Time Warner we see similar tactics. Each subsidiary is run with its own goals that run parallel with the parent company and headquarters Mission and Vision. A strong leader brings this all together and a strong board is needed to maintain the investors comprehension and trust in the company.
