- Bigfork - Rest Day
DISTANCE TRAVELED: 0.00 Miles
On our first rest day, I woke up at 9:00 to the sound of rain on my tent. I very slowly got up and got some breakfast. After breakfast, I learned how to take apart the bottom bracket on my bike and re-lube all the parts, which could be helpful in the future. After this, Stu, Scott, and I rode into town where we ate a lunch of French dip sandwiches, chips, sodas, and ice cream. We mailed some extra gear home from the nicest post office I have ever seen and then went back to the camp where we talked. Brian came back from Kalispell (which was 17 miles away) where the nearest bike shop was and we tried out the new Peak II stove that he bought. It worked great and boiled water much faster. Finally, it stopped raining so the cooking crew left to buy food. However, buying food isn't quite accurate since they simply ordered delivery pizza. It was good to have pizza since it was the last night in a town for two days but, I ate much too much of it. The sun set, and there were incredible colors over the lake as the clouds parted. We cleaned up the camp, I made a few phone calls, and then I organized my gear. I was able to go into a web publishing office called Cyberia where I accessed the Internet for a few minutes. Then, I ran into Randy, a cyclist staying in our campground, who is also going to Antelope Wells, New Mexico. We talked for a while and then I went to my tent to write. I got to bed around 10:40.
