1224 Valentine HOLLINGSWORTH, b. cJun 1632, Belleniskcarnnel, County Armagh, IRE, s/o Henry and Catherine (CORNISH) HOLLINGSWORTH, d. aft. 1710, New Castle Co., DE, buried in Friends Cem., Newark, DE, m. 7 Apr 1655 Lurgan Meeting, County. Armagh, IRE, (1225) Ann REE, b. c1628, Tanderagee, County Armagh, IRE, d/o Nicholas and Ann REE, d. 1 Feb 1671, prob. in IRE. Valentine m. 2nd., 12 Apr 1672, Ann CALVERT, d/o Thomas and Jane CALVERT of Dromgora, Parish of Segoe, County Armagh, IRE. She d. 17 Aug 1697. In 1682, Valentine HOLLINGSWORTH, with his son-in-law, Thomas CONNAWAY, and John Musgrove, an indented servant, came from Belfast to DE. He settled on a large 1000 acre plantation on Shelpot Creek in Brandywine Hundred, New Castle Co., DE, about five miles NE of present day Wilmington. He was a prominent Friend and donated land for a burying ground and afterwards a meeting house known as Newark. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace for New Castle Co, in 1685, and represented the county in the Assembly in 1682-83, 1687 thru 1689, 1695, and 1700. Both he and his second wife are buried in Friends Burying Ground, Newark (FH8, PAB1 p310-311, US18). There were eleven children;  four by the first wife, and seven by the second. Children:

1224.1 Mary HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 25 Jan 1656, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. prob. in DE, m. 28 Apr 1682, County Armagh, IRE, Thomas CONNAWAY, d. 30 Nov 1688. Mary m. 2nd. in 1693, Randal MALIN. Mary and Thomas, came to DE with her father, and settled near him in New Castle Co. Her second husband became a Quaker minister and in 1727 removed with the family to Goshen Monthly Meeting. She had three children by each husband (PAB1, p311-316, US18). 1224.2 Henry HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 7 Sep 1658, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. Feb/Mar 1721, prob. Elkton, Cecil Co., MD, m. 22 Jun 1688, County Armagh, Lydia ATKINSON, of Parish of Segoe, County Armagh. Henry is thought to have come to PA as a redemptioner to Robert Turner in 1683. He lived with his father in New Castle Co., DE, for awhile, then returned to Ireland to marry Lydia ATKINSON in 1688. In 1695, he was sheriff of the county and also represented New Castle Co., in the Assembly.  In 1700, and after he was Clerk of the Courts and Coroner of Chester County, he moved to Elkton, MD where he was appointed surveyor of Cecil Co.(FH8, PAB1, p311-316, US18) Children:

1224.2b Stephen HOLLINGSWORTH b. 1690/91, Chester Co., PA, m. Anne _____?. Stephen was a Magistrate in Cecil Co., MD, in 1730, removed to VA in 1734, where he was granted 472 acres of land on the west side of the Shenandoah River in Orange Co., VA. (FH8) Known Children:

1224.4 Catherine HOLLINGSWORTH, b. Mary 1663, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. 29 Jun 1746, m. 2 Nov 1688, George ROBINSON, b. c1666, North Ireland, d. 8 Sep 1738. The family came to DE in 1687 (PAB1, p311-316). Children:

1224.5 Samuel HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 27 Jan 1673, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. 1748, m. 1701, Hannah HARLAN, d/o George and Elizabeth HARLAN. Samuel lived in Birmingham Twp., and held several important offices. In 1729 and 1738, he was appointed Justice of the Peace for Chester Co., PA. From 1725 to 1728, he represented the county in the Assembly (PAB1, p311-316). Children:

1224.6 Enoch HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 7 Jun 1675, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. 24 Aug 1687, New Castle Co., DE (PAB1, p311-316).

1224.7 Valentine HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 12 Nov 1677, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, d. 1757, m. 1713, Elizabeth HEALD. Valentine resided in Kennett, PA, His will dated 30 Nov 1749, was proven 25 Mar 1757 (PAB1, p311-316). Children:

1224.8 Ann HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 28 Oct 1680, Belleniskcrannell, County Armagh, IRE, m. 1700, James THOMPSON (PAB1, p311-316).

1224.9         John HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 19 Feb 1684, New Castle Co., DE, d. 1722, m. 1706, Catherine TYLER. First of Valentine's children born in the colonies (PAB1, p311-316).
