Knights of The Zodiac (Saint Saiya in Japan), is about a team of armored warriors who fight for either good or evil. They wear one of three-different colored cloths (the armor): Bronze, Silver, or Gold. Gold is the most powerful, and Bronze is relitively the weakest, although still very powerful, and Silver is somewhere in between. There is also the Steel Knights, which are three characters who have fought on the side of good, although their motives are unknown.
The two sides are the good Bronze Knights, led by Pegasus Seiya, and serving the Princess Sienna, and the evil Silver Knights, led by various villians, and serving the new Master of Sancuary, the training ground of the Knights. The old Master was good, stern, but fair. But he died, and his younger brother took control. Now, he wants one thing: The Gold Cloth of Saggitarius. He already has most of the Cloth; only the Helmet remains out of his reach, under the protection of the Bronze Knights.
When Ikki, the Pheonix Knight first made his appearence, he was after the Gold Cloth, too (the first one, in fact). He is, in fact, Shun's (Andromeda) older brother, and the most aggressive of the two. (Shun is the gentle one.) Ikki's backup were the Black Knights, black-armored doubles of the Bronze Knights. In a final battle for the Gold Cloth, Swan Hyoga turned Ikki's own Pheonix Demon Illusion Blow against him, and it seemed to snap him out of whatever had caused him to go bad. Then, another group of theives stole the Gold Cloth (except the helmet), and, in an insuing avalanche, it seemed that Ikki was lost.
Ikki later returned, however, and for the better! He became a member of the Bronze Knights. One more Knight to fight the forces of evil! And just in time, too. They really needed another Knight, Bronze or otherwise.
Then, it was revealed that Princess Sienna was the reincarnation of the goddess Athena, herself, and that the new Master of Sanctuary is Ares. The Bronze Knights then swore alligence to Sienna/Athena. (Especially important to Seiya, because he orginally joined because Sienna promiced to find his sister for him.)
