Kyuuketsuki Miyu, or, Vampire Princess Miyu is and anime about a girl vampire whose job it was to send Shinma (demons) back to a place called, "The Dark". She is eternally thirteen, and has all the powers of the vampire, but none of the weaknesses. Her bite gives --not death-- but eternal happiness, an immortal life living in dreams. In the orginal OVA, her bite could also make the person bitten into a vampire, like Miyu. Miyu usually only takes blood from "beautiful" people.
Helping Miyu is Lava (or Larva, in the OVA). He is a Western (Europian) Shinma who wears a silver mask and a black cloak, and carries a scythe. In the orginal OVA, Larva could not speak or remove his mask. There was a special episode which told of his origin, which showed him before he entered into Miyu's service. In the new series, Lava can both remove his mask and speak. He often speaks his mind about subjects.
The only version I have direct access to is the new series. Between two tapes, I have seven episodes. The tapes are by TOKYOPOP Anime. I do not know if Miyu can turn anyone into a vampire in the new series.
A few new things from the series:
She as a pet Quebeast named Shinna, which looks like a bunny, but while one eye is large and cute, the other is large and bloodshot. Shiina gets flashes of danger, like a sixth sense.
Miyu also has three human friends, who later learn who and what Miyu is. (I think...)
There is a rival demon hunter, named Reiha. She is part Shinma, part Snow Witch. She creates ice and snow, and is just as cold-hearted and cruel. She carries a doll that talks.
Give me Miyu and Lava any day! ^_^
In the Drak Pack Universe, Miyu is Drak, Jr.'s cousin, from his mother's side.
