Like Mark Recchi and Theoren Fleury, Daymond Langkow is a player who needs to use speed, skill, and energy to compensate for a certain lack of size in the NHL. Officially listed at 5'11 (though more likely 5'9), Langkow is a good skater with nice hands. He has good on-ice vision, but he tends to get knocked around a lot on the ice due to his size. Although he hasn't always shown the on-ice grit necessary to succeed in the NHL, Langkow has a positive atttitude and good effect in the locker room. He plays a complete game and can be on the ice in all situations.
Since his arrival from Tampa Bay, Langkow's offensive touch has continued to improve. With Simon Gagne and Justin Williams, Langkow is a big part of the Flyers' long-term offensive future. Despite missing nearly 10 games due to foot injuries this season, Langkow reached a new offensive high with his output of 53 points (with 1 game left). At 24, he's young enough to still be improving and he'll still be around when Recchi and LeClair have retired to play golf on the links.
