Site news

(5/7) Uploaded new editorial. Click here to read my season review.

(5/1) Some general site news: I'll going to be moving to Bruins territory in about three weeks, which means my life is going to be a bit chaotic. This means that any updates will be very sporadic for a while. Also, Geocities is really sucking these days, which means I'm also looking for a new server. I do hope to have this site running at its normal frequency by the beginning of the 02-03 season.

I've recently written three special articles for this site.

Injury update

Seidenberg at Worlds

(5/2) Flyers draft pick Dennis Seidenberg is playing for Germany at the World Championships. Seidenberg also played for Germany at the Olympics, where he distinguished himself on the surprising German team.

Johnsson and Weinrich at Worlds

(5/2) Defense pair Kim Johnsson and Eric Weinrich have joined Dan McGillis and Justin Williams at the World Championships in Sweden. Johnsson is representing Sweden, as he did in Salt Lake City, while Weinrich patrols Team USA's blue line.

McGillis and Williams join Canadian national team

(5/1) Defenseman Dan McGillis and winger Justin Williams both joined the Canadian national team for the 2002 World Championships. This is Williams' first international experience, and he assisted on one of Canada's goals in their 2-1 victory over Team USA. Other Flyers (including Simon Gagne) were apparently invited, but they all declined.

Barber fired

(4/30) The Flyers fired Coach Bill Barber this afternoon. The decision was announced at an afternoon press conference. Ed Snider and Bob Clarke cited Barber's rift with his players--who had spent most of the previous day bashing Billy B to the press--and said that Barber would be offered another position in the organization. Some names mentioned as possible candidates for the position are former Jack Adams winners Ted Nolan and Pat Burns, former Stars coach Ken Hitchcock, former Devils coach Larry Robinson, and former Flyer captain Dave Poulin.
