Unable to get the set of keys in the first request, Tom's wife had to call the Hertz rental office a second time and her story was that her husband had lost the keys because he'd committed suicide while at the canal, not while swimming as stated before. Although claims were made that Tom committed suicide, his body has never been found. He is missing without a trace.
What makes this story more sinister is that Tom Stump's family discovered that his wife was connected to those individuals who were also connected to the disappearance of Diana Harris who vanished 14 years earlier. The family believes that there is more than coincidence in these two disappearances and that these individuals need to give them the information to lead to Diana and Tom.
